The original dwelling of this home, built in 1860, would have been much plainer: almost Georgian in style with symmetrical treatment of multipaned sash windows around a wide entryway. The spare "Quaker" appearance would have been relieved only by front gable and round headed windows. The decorative bargeboard and finals were the result of the Gothic Revival influence and likely added 1870's-80's. The porch, which would have been added early in this century, illustrates the Classical Revival influence.
